Funeral services for Jimmy Lee King, III, age
20 of Eufaula, were held Monday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist
Church in Eufaula. The Rev. Shane Yancey and the Rev. Craig Little
officiated and burial followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Eufaula, with
Chapman Funeral Home directing. Mr. King died Saturday, Feb. 26, at home in
Eufaula.
Born Jan. 13, 1991 in Dothan, he was the son of Melissa Nicole Tate King and
Jimmy Lee King, Jr.
Lee wanted to be a logger. At six years old, he started spending his summers
in the woods with his Dad. He loved pretending to be the boss and firing
everybody because they were not working as hard as he thought they should.
He loved sitting in his daddy's lap while driving the diesel truck as they
pulled loads of logs out of the woods. A worker by nature, Lee would come
home after school and immediately start cleaning up. Unfortunately, his idea
of cleaning up was putting everything in a pile in a corner somewhere. That
must be why he loved raking leaves so much. Often, instead of playing, Lee
would be in the yard with a rake in his hand. He had attended Parkview
Christian Preschool, Sanford Avenue, where he inspired his fellow students
to raise awareness and funds to combat the disease that was stealing life,
Admiral Moorer Middle School, and Eufaula High School until complications
with his disease made it impossible. He was a member of Calvary Baptist
Church.
Lee loved fishing and wrestling with his dad and brothers and baseball. He
was physically able to play
T-ball for one season. Most of all, he loved girls - especially blondes!
Unfortunately, Niemann Pick disease robbed him of many of his physical
capabilities, but it never took his capacity to love. Lee will be deeply
missed.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers Tyler and Andrew
King of Eufaula; his maternal grandparents Don and Cindy Tate of Rehobeth;
his paternal grandparents Jimmy and Annette King, Sr., of Eufaula; his
maternal great grandfather Robert Helms of Slocomb; his aunt Farrah (David)
Roland of Abbeville; his uncle Wesley (Lynn) Tate of Dothan, and his cousins
Payten Roland and Jackson Tate.
Serving as pallbearers were Don Bush, Danny Little, David Koon, John Dansby,
Sam Williams, Matthew Self, Billy Weathers, Bo Weaver and Henry Hines.
The visitation was Sunday, Feb. 27, at Calvary Baptist Church from 5 until 8
p.m.
The family will accept flowers or donations may be made to the Lee King
Benefit Buddy Tournament, c/o Sam Williams, 1844 North Eufaula Ave.,
